The Merope Of George Jeffreys As A Source Of Voltaire's Merope

The book ""The Merope of George Jeffreys as a Source of Voltaire's Merope"" by Thomas Edward Oliver explores the influence of George Jeffreys' play ""Merope"" on Voltaire's tragedy of the same name. The book provides a detailed analysis of the similarities and differences between the two works, as well as the historical and literary context in which they were written. The author examines the characters, themes, and plot of both plays, and argues that Voltaire was heavily influenced by Jeffreys' work in creating his own tragedy. The book is a valuable resource for scholars and students of 18th-century literature and theatre, as well as anyone interested in the history of drama and the evolution of tragic form. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
