Gift quality hardcover in grey cloth covered boards showing sharp tips and barely bumped (not rubbed) spine ends with red titles and rocking horse illustration on frt cover. This is an early reprint with 1946 date on foot of title and copyright pages, but no 'Scribner's A'. Un-paginated = 64pp. Illustrated on every page by gifted author/artist Paul Brown in red, grey and black on cream colored pages. Hinge papers are fine, colorful red and white illustrated endpapers clean, no names, tears or soil. It is not a former library copy. Shows and reads well without any page 'dents' from turning. Unclipped ($2.25) original dust jacket shows some sun fade on spine (with title clearly legible), a few small repairs and color loss at tips. Displays well in new mylar. The story of Merrylegs, a rocking pony who was initially owned by a tough pair of brothers who really rough him up with their harsh play. He is repaired and resold to Billy's father who surprises him with the refurbished, life-sized grey rocking pony.…
