About the Author

Both Authors currently reside on the Big Island Of Hawaii. Marla Hanson, born and raised in California, taught music in Marin county at the San Geronimo school in the Lagunitas school district. Meru started there as a one page dream and ended up being turned into a full length play with music and elaborate costumes. There was such a big response from the children that the play had to be double cast. It became a huge hit among the kids and their parents. Wanting to continue in childhood education, Marla took classes and, following her heart, she became a preschool teacher, and later an assistant director and a preschool director. By this time her daughter Scarlet Eskildsen had moved to Hawaii to become an artist, and currently works at the Big Island Radio Group. Through many twists of fate the two of them through endless phone conversations, managed to rewrite Meru and the Magic Thread into what it is today.
