A very scarce copy of this report on the first International Monetary Conference, and the response of the then US President, Andrew Johnson. The present volume describes the first of a series of assemblies held in the second half of the nineteenth century with the aim of reaching agreement on international relationships between national currency systems. Led by Félix Esquirou de Parieu, the 1867 conference discussed the adoption of the single gold standard, the coordination of various currencies with the French system, and decimalisation of currencies. The 1867 conference saw delegates vote unanimously in favour of decimalisation and the Latin Monetary Union. However the United Kingdom sent no official delegate, and refused to accept the recommendations of the conference. Unbound. Externally, smart, with some light age-toning to the external pages.
