Metamorphosis

In this compelling anthology, Metamorphosis, students of Aberystwyth University's Creative Writing MA course explore the intricate theme of change and transformation through a diverse array of poetry and prose. Curated as part of the 'Writer as Professional' module by the 2024 cohort, the collection captures the poignant, often bittersweet transitions that define our lives. From the uncertainty of leaving a place that feels almost like home, to the intimate shifts that occur within the familiar walls of a bedroom, each piece resonates with the universal experience of growth and self-discovery. With contributions ranging from reflections on identity and memory to explorations of love and loss, Metamorphosis invites readers to see the world through a kaleidoscope of perspectives, where every change is both a loss and a new beginning.

The Aberystwyth University Creative Writing MA course sees students engage in workshops, critical and creative discussions, and preparation for future careers in the literary field. This anthology was curated, edited, and launched by students completing their Master's in 2024 as an optional component of their 'Writer as Professional' module. The contributors to the anthology include current and past MA students, as well as Creative Writing Undergraduates. For many of those included, this is their first opportunity to be published.
