Series: Nineteenth-Century Book Arts and Printing History, No. 9. 8vo. 8 3/4 x 5 5/8 inches. [xviii], 60; xii, (180), [4] pp. 3 plates in Brightly's work; text clean, unmarked. Brown cloth, gilt spine; binding square and tight. Fine. Brightly's work first appeared in 1809; Hodgson?s in 1820. Brightly's work is a mere pamphlet, and is extremely rare in the wild; it was the earliest public account of the process invented by Lord Stanhope. Hodgson in turn was the foremost authority on the topic of stereotype printing in 1820 England.
