Einleitung: Die vorliegende Diplomarbeit betrachtet das "Supply Chain Mapping". Zielsetzung der Arbeit ist die systematische Ausarbeitung der wichtigsten Facetten, darunter die Methoden und Instrumente, dieses aktuellen Themas sowie die Vorstellung eines Praxisbeispiels von DaimlerChrysler. Das Supply Chain Mapping geh�rt zum Supply Chain Management und daher ist es notwendig, die aktuellen Rahmenbedingungen und Anforderungen an das Supply Chain Management und an die Logistik vorzustellen, dies geschieht im 2. Kapitel. Daraus lassen sich dann die Bedeutung und die Notwendigkeit der Optimierung der Logistischen Kette ableiten. Im 3. Kapitel erfolgt die Betrachtung des Supply Chain Managements und der Logistik sowie deren Entwicklung. Um die Wurzeln der aktuellen Entwicklungen zum Supply Chain Management zu verstehen und um das Supply Chain Mapping aus seinem chronologischen Ablauf herauszul�sen ist dies an dieser Stelle erforderlich. Zum besseren Verst�ndnis werden im 4. Kapitel die Eckpfeiler des Supply Chain Managements ausf�hrlich betrachtet. Darunter f�llt unter anderem der Peitscheneffekt, der recht deutlich die Problematik in Supply Chain's erkl�rt. L�sungen zum Peitscheneffekt werden an dieser Stelle zwar genannt, es wird aber nicht n�her darauf eingegangen. Das Supply Chain Mapping ist schlie�lich selber eine umfassende M�glichkeit, um dem Peitscheneffekt entgegenzutreten. Ein weiterer Punkt ist die Definition der Supply Chain als ein spezifisches Netz, wobei eine Betrachtung der m�glichen Netzwerktypologien sowie der Einordnung der Supply Chain in diese Typologien nicht erfolgt. Das Kapitel wird dann mit den drei tragenden S�ulen des Supply Chain Managements, darunter auch der wichtige Aspekt der Partnerschaft, abgeschlossen. Im 5.
