Methodology of Educational Research

Research deals with the application of the scientific method to problem solving. It has not always been realized by teachers and teacher-educators that scientific methodology is of importance in education. Most probably this neglect of scientific methodology has occurred because research has been considered irrelevant to educators, which in fact is altogether untrue. On the contrary, the application of research principles can make the educators more effective in their work of promoting teaching-learning. R.P. Pathak is a Sr. Reader (Department of Education) in L.B.S. Vidyapeeth (Deemed University), New Delhi, teaching B.Ed. and M.Ed. classes. He received his education at Jaunpur, Gorakhpur, B.H.U., Kendriya Hindi Sansthan, IGNOU and Meerut University. He has served various institutions, i.e. NCERT, SCERT and IGNOU. He has guided a number of Ph.D. and master level dissertations and has contributed several research papers, articles and reports to various journals of repute. He has more than twenty years of teaching and research experience.
