This book presents protocols for 3D tissue engineering, encompassing biochemical, immunostaining, and gene expression methods for the fabrication of scaffolds from synthetic polymers, peptides that self-assemble, and quantitative methods for characterizing the mechanical and chemical properties of these scaffolds. Also covered is the combination of scaffolds, hydrogels, and cells as building blocks to create even larger structures using layer-by-layer deposition or macromolding approaches. About the Author

Francois Berthiaume is an associate professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Rutgers University. He holds a B.S. and a Ph.D. in chemical engineering from Laval University and The Pennsylvania State University, respectively.
Jeffrey Morgan is an associate professor in the Department of Molecular Pharmacology, Physiology and Biotechnology at Brown University. He holds a B.S. from Syracuse University and a Ph.D. from Harvard University.
