Octavo, green cloth with black and gilt lettering, 415 pp. A treatise on education by Albert Newton Raub, American educator who was principal of the Central State Normal School in Lock Haven, Pa, and the president of Delaware College (today the University of Delaware). Preface: "The book is designed not only as a textbook for the use of Normal Schools and Normal Classes, but also as a handbook for the use of students who are preparing to teach, but have not an opportunity of taking a course of professional instruction. It is designed also to afford help to those who are already engaged in teaching, and are desirous of improvement by professional reading." First published in 1883. From the Meyer-Levin collection of book bindings. An excellent copy in a lovely binding, with mild foxing to endpapers, hint of toning to pages.
