Occasional insignificant foxing and minor staining, increasing somewhat in the supplement. Inkstain on p. s. XXIX. Acquisition note dated Paris 1818 on front pastedown, later French bibliographical notes at end of insert. A nice copy with bookplate of Nils Fries and his discrete pencil acquisition note.Krok Bibliotheca botanica suecana 9. Published by the bookseller F. D. D. Ulrich. Erik Acharius (1757-1819) was one of Linnaeus' last disciples and has been called "pater lichenologiæ", "the father of lichenology". The plates were engraved by Fredrik Akrel and are sometimes coloured. Nils Fries (1912-1994) was professor of botany, in particular plant physiology and -anatomy at Uppsala University. He studied, among other things, the reproduction of fungi.
