Micromanufacturing: Materials, Processes, and technology

Micromanufacturing involves design, fabrication and assembly of compounds machined or manufactured at micron and sub-micron levels. It also includes nano-materials and nano-fabrication techniques in which nano-scale materials and processes are involved. These processes are beyond the traditional mechanical means of manufacturing and hence distinct micromanufacturing techniques have been developed. Many of the micro-manufacturing technologies can be considered as new, innovative and exotic and are being continuously developed. Dr. M. Adithan, was Professor and Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at NITTTR (National Institute of Technical Teachers' Training and Research) at Chandigarh. He was also a faculty in the Mechanical Engineering Department and in the Curriculum Development Centre at IIT, Madras. He has been a visiting Professor at Brigham Young University, Provo, Utah, U.S.A. and at University of Technology, Johor Bahru, Malaysia. Dr. Adithan obtained B.E. (Hons) and M.Sc. Engineering from College of Engineering, Guindy, University of Madras, and Ph.D. from IIT, Madras. He has published many research papers in national and international journals and is author of several textbooks and other instructional materials.
