Microprocessor, Microcomputer and their Applications, 4/e, in three parts, covers the hardware, software and the applications of microcomputers. This book covers single chip microcomputers (microcontrollers) emphasizing on the architecture, memory organization, programming technique and a large number of programming examples. Interfacing techniques have been explained clearly with the aid of diagrams, charts and tables alongwith the input/output devices and controlling and peripheral devices.



NEW TO THE FOURTH EDITION:

In fourth edition, chapter 7 (Input-out put devices), chapter 9 (Controlling and peripheral devices) and chapter 13 (Intel 8086) have been thoroughly revised. Different modes of operation of PPI 8255 viz Handshaking, strobe bi-directional and BSR modes have been thoroughly discussed. Several controlling and peripheral devices like Interrupt Controller IC 8259, its cascaded operation, DMA controller 8237 etc. have been modified and discussed. The chapter on Intels 8086 have been completely revised giving details of Minimum and Maximum mode of operation, Interrupt structure and programming techniques etc.

After revising several chapters, I feel that the readers will get more clear understanding of the graduate development of microprocessor system starting from INTEL 8085 via Pentium processor to the Embedded system. I would be eager to receive suggestions for further improvement of the book.

The book is intended for undergraduate and postgraduate students of Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Allied fields of engineering and sciences. Researchers and professionals will also find this book beneficial.
