[Previous owner's signature on the half-title - Chas R Cowlan (?). This is also written on the front endpaper, where a subsequent owner has commented that he was the manager of a gunpowder factory, and served in the war at the Ministry of Supply and subsequently at the Headquarters Investigation Offices.].
