In Microsoft Publisher 97 by Design, Luisa Simone teaches users of every level how to use Microsoft Publisher 97, the premiere low-end desktop publishing package, for a wide variety of projects. Simone starts off by providing a solid introduction to Publisher, its interface, and the new and improved features in Publisher 97. In the bulk of the book, Simone covers all of the tools for manipulating text, graphics, styles, layouts, and views; details such ease-of-use tools as the Design Checker, Design Gallery, and PageWizard; and explains outputting to black and white printers, color printers, service bureaus, and commercial printers.

The second part of the book focuses on creating publications and learning about design issues such as publication size, paper type, output, font choice, and arrangement of text and pictures. Readers can proceed step by step through the process of creating party invitations, posters, resumes, flyers, ads, logos, newsletters, catalogues, Web pages, letterhead, forms, and brochures.
