Halvorson doesn't presume his readers have any prior programming knowledge, so he walks through the programming process in extensive detail and introduces concepts at a reasonable pace. The first few chapters show how to use Visual Basic to write and run simple programs; they're followed up with coverage of fundamental programming concepts such as variables, loops, and IF-THEN statements. By the end of the book, you'll be writing programs that can display multiple dialog boxes, manipulate arrays of data, and access text files or databases. Lesson summaries at the end of each chapter provide a quick reference that you can use to help recall what you've learned.
