Here is information about Sheet 268: One Inch Sheet 268 Mid Berkshire 1885 - published 1999; intro by Christopher Board. ISBN.978-1-84151-106-1 This early Inch to the Mile map, which is centred on Reading, covers the central area of Berkshire, with smaller portions of Oxfordshire and Hampshire north and south. Coverage stretches from Hampstead Norris eastward to Wokingham, and from Streatley southward to Silchester and Stratfield Saye. These early maps are always attractive and the leafy nature of this area is most pleasing. On the reverse we include an extract from Berkshire Sheet 44.06 showing Aldermaston in 1898, complete with directory. It is not possible to list the many hamlets, farmsteads and other topographical features shown on these maps. However, you may find it useful if we list the towns and principal villages or church parishes that are included on this map. Links are given for those for which detailed large-scale maps are also available. Aldermaston, Arborfield, Ashampstead, Barkham, Basildon, Beenham, Bradfield, Brimpton, Burghfield, Englefield, Finchampstead, Hurst, Padworth, Pangbourne, Purley Reading, Ruscombe, Shinfield, Sonning, Stanford Dingley, Stratfield Mortimer, Sulham, Sulhampstead Abbots, Sulhampstead Bannister, Tidmarsh, Tilehurst, Twyford, Ufton Nervet, Wargrave, Wasing, Wokingham. Eversley, Silchester, Stratfield Saye. Caversham, Goring, Mapledurham, Whitchurch.
