Reviews: Someone attacked Elle Peterssen and left her in a coma, but no one, not even Elle herself—watching from outside her own body along with a group of other coma patients—knows who can be trusted enough to find the culprit. McCann (Return of the Dapper Men, 2010) kicks off his thriller with lots of pretty people and plenty of unanswered questions. The only truly sympathetic characters are the scared but determined Elle; her devoted friend, Jo; and Doctor Geller, a woman fighting to uncover the secrets surrounding the attack. No one else is to be trusted and most can’t even be liked, which will go a long way in keeping readers intrigued. This first volume sets up the rest of the series, but even when it is trying too hard to be cool, the story is still engaging. Esquejo’s blandly attractive art doesn’t get in the way of the story, and there is an artist swap different enough to interest the eye and the mind during a flashback sequence. --Snow Wildsmith
