Lighthearted family farce with a mistaken-identity spark
The one‑act style comedy A Minister Pro Tem presents a bustling living room scene as a sleepy household prepares for a visiting nephew who turns out to be more than expected. Mischief, miscommunication, and a dash of romantic confusion drive the humor, ending in a comic reveal that keeps the mood bright and clean.
In this brisk, twenty-minute comedy, a devoted father, a quick‑tongued niece, and a wary thief-turned-visitor collide with sudden misunderstandings. The plot unfolds in a single living room setting, with clear stage directions and a ready‑to‑perform cast that can adapt to small or larger groups. The piece offers opportunities for character comedy, rapid pacing, and gentle heart. What you’ll experience:
- A gently spoofed visit from a likable clergyman and the household’s lively dynamics
- Quick exchanges, mistaken identities, and a humorous chase that lands in a friendly, tidy conclusion
- Flexible casting with a mix of men and women that suits school, community, or church groups
- Brief, stage-ready action ideal for a short ensemble production or reading event
Perfect for bringing light, approachable humor to small stages and gatherings. The work comes with period-accurate character types and timed interactions that help bolster rehearsal flow and audience warmth.

Store description
