Great dragons once roamed the Oreth, bringing havoc and death to the nations of men, elves, and dwarves. Where they came from is shrouded in the cloak of time, but what is known is that it took the strongest heroes and wisest mages to drive them back to whence they came, leaving a scarred land and broken armies. The races of Oreth have rebuilt and begun to recover in the 400 years since the Dragon Wars, but there are signs that the huge wyrms may be returning: traveler’s tales of a desolation to the east of the nation of Thar, migrations of reclusive lizard people to more civilized lands, and unexplained lightning during cloudless nights. One band of adventurers seeks to find out if the rumors are true, and to rediscover the magic that can send the foul beasts back to their realm forever.

About the Author

Nicholas Sweeney was born in 1970 in Yugoslavia to American ex-pat parents. He grew up in many different places, including Lusaka, Zambia; Guadalajara, Mexico; and Berkeley, California. Nicholas' interest in the fantasy genre blossomed when he and a friend discovered Dungeons and Dragons at age 12. In 1994, Nicholas graduated from the University of Oregon with a Bachelor's degree in English. He currently resides in Portland, Oregon, with his wife and two children.
