Edges browned. Prelims, title page and contents absent. This copy begins at the preface. Latter pages missing. This copy ends on p. 208 near the end of the chapter"The Orphan of Chao, A Chinese Tragedy". Entirely absent is chapter 4, "On the Chinese Drama". 99-104pp also absent. Covers worn. Corners bumped.
