Karen Rupprecht brings Miss Prudence Pennypack to life each week on Baltimore's WMAR-TVs Emmy Award-winning show Its Kindertime! where she also produces, writes and composes original music. As Miss Pennypack, she performs live at schools and community centers.
Karen was born and raised in Philadelphia, Pa. She received a degree in Early Childhood Education from Hood College, married, remained in Maryland and taught elementary school. While raising three sons, she received a Certificate in Management from Goucher College, worked in the business world, then entered the field of professional education for adults.
Karen returned to her first love, the education of young children, and taught nursery school. It was then that her life-long interest in music, both composing and performing, led to the publication of a music/curriculum book, Music for Early Childhood. Her great joy comes from writing books and songs that teach in an entertaining manner. She has plenty of practice as the very proud grandmother of two young, active grandsons.
