Mistress Miao

A Story of Reincarnation, Parallel Worlds, Historical Fiction and Dedicated Love

In the latest adventure from Yun Rou, author of the best-selling Turtle Planet and award-winning Mad Monk Manifesto, an American faces down a heady concoction of reincarnation, magical realism and violence to save his Chinese wife, while in a parallel world in ancient China, an astonishing bi-sexual omnivore single-handedly keeps a world of warriors at bay.

Set in modern-day Los Angeles and late Song Dynasty China (1200’s) the two storylines become more and more clearly intertwined as the book progresses.

The story centers around Lulu, a strong woman of great exotic beauty who is a bisexual serial killer but with self-defense as a theme to her violence. She also feels strongly about her personal rights, her family, and the desire to see her homeland defended against invaders. When Lulu becomes comatose following a seemingly random act of violence, her dedicated husband nurses her trying to keep her alive.

Hun, the Chinese God of Chaos acts to bring about coincidence, special circumstances, and a deep level of order to things that appear disordered on the surface. Yang Miao Zhen, a strong female military leader and warrior in medieval China is reincarnated again and again to do his bidding.

The reader follows Lulu’s earlier incarnation from childhood to marriage and motherhood, a warrior, a queen, also a killer, and an especially skillful fighter who defeats all comers, including fierce Mongol warriors.
