Mitch Harris

He traded a glove for a gun. Then picked the glove back up—and made history.

Mitch Harris had every reason to chase his dream of becoming a Major League pitcher. He had the talent. He had the fire. And when the St. Louis Cardinals drafted him, the dream was finally within reach.

But instead of running to the stadium, Mitch answered a different call.

He chose to serve his country.

This is not just another sports story.

This is the powerful, true journey of a young man who left behind fame and fortune to become a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy, serving on warships in some of the world’s most dangerous waters. He didn’t just put his baseball dream on hold—he risked never getting it back.

Yet, against all odds, after nearly five years at sea, Harris came back—not just to baseball, but to the biggest stage in the game.

And when he stepped onto the mound for the St. Louis Cardinals, he became the first Naval Academy graduate in 94 years to pitch in the Major Leagues.
