Model of Time and Space Distribution of Rainfall in Arizona and New Mexico (Classic Reprint)

This book is a comprehensive resource on rainfall in Arizona and New Mexico, providing a deep dive into its occurrence and depth-area distribution. The author combines insights from recording rain gauges, small gauge groups, and National Weather Service data to analyze the rainfall patterns in these semi-arid regions. This book also offers a rainfall simulation program that can be utilized for hydrological models when long-term rainfall data is unavailable or scarce, and can be paired with point records to verify the model's accuracy. The program includes data on accumulated seasonal rainfall, starting and ending times for events, and Thiessen weighted watershed averages, making it a valuable tool for estimating runoff volumes and peaks. The research presented in this book contributes to our understanding of rainfall variability in the Southwest, providing insights into the mechanisms driving rainfall events and the implications for water management and range management programs.
