Modelling the T-55 Main Battle Tank (Osprey Modelling)

The T-55 tank first appeared in 1958, a result of numerous improvements made to the (1949) T-54 series, and with a lineage stretching back to the wartime T-34 and the T-44. The T-55 series has seen service around the world with many armed forces, including the Warsaw Pact countries, Afghanistan, Angola, Cambodia, China, Croatia, Egypt, Iran, North Korea, Poland, Somalia, Sudan, and Vietnam, and has seen action in key modern conflicts, most recently in the two Gulf Wars. This title showcases the talents of several leading modellers, and presents Serbian, Iraqi, Czech, Syrian, and Russian variants across 1/35 and 1/72 scales. It also features several challenging projects that involve extensive scratchbuilding.

Nicola Cortese studied Creative Arts at college, and spent 15 years as a professional musician, before becoming a technical writer for software programs. He began AFV modelling several years ago and was instantly hooked.

Sam Dwyer has been building plastic models for over 25 years. He currently specialises in armour modelling, and his work features widely on modelling websites. His work has also featured in 'Military Modelling' magazine. Sam lives and works in Victoria, Australia.

Graeme Davidson is a Captain in the Canadian Army and the Artillery Trials Officer at the Land Forces Test & Evaluation Unit. He was educated at the Royal Military College, where he earned a BA (Hons) in History. He has been modelling AFVs and Aircraft for several years, and his work has been published in modelling magazines and the galleries of www.missing-lynx.com.

Robert Oehler is the former Marketing Manager at Tamiya America, Inc., and was regularly involved in the research that served as the basis for the Tamiya military models. He has regularly contributed product reviews, demonstration articles and historical interest features to magazines throughout the world. He is the USA Consulting Editor for Tamiya Model Magazine International as well as for the Osprey Modeling series.
