Der vorliegende Band gibt im wesentlichen Vortrage einer Tagung Modeme Methoden der Numerischen Mathematik wieder, die yom 10. bis 13.Juni 1975 im Rahmen der 200-Jahr-Feier der Technischen Universitat Clausthal stattfand und die durch verschiedene Beispiele sowohl Forschungsschwer- punkte als auch Anwendungen in anderen Wissenschaften zeigen sollte. Folgende Gebiete kamen dabei zur Sprache: Eigenwertaufgaben, Iterationen mit expandierenden und mit monotonen Operatoren, nichtlineare Schwin- gungen, Approximation, Interpolation und Quadratur, Ausgleichungen, Opti- mierung, optimale Steuerung, Diskretisierungsverfahren bei Anfangs- und Randwertaufgaben, schnelle Fourier-Transformationen, Diffusionsgleichun- gen in biologischen Modellen und Identifizierungsprobleme.
