Our Money, Ourselves: Redesigning Your Relationship With Money : A Self-Help Guide

A guide that will help women build a more positive and productive relationship with money

Women's relationship to money is the subject of this self-help guide by Ealy (The Woman's Book of Creativity, Beyond Words, 1995) and Lesh, a psychotherapist and the coauthor of Building Self-Esteem (Prentice-Hall, 1997. 2d ed.). The authors take readers through the often complex relationship that women have with money, from childhood experiences through retirement. They analyze fears about money; society's messages about money, women, and the workplace; and taking charge in financial matters. Designed to promote participation, their book includes a series of exercises for self-analysis. The case studies clearly illustrate real-life situations and concerns, challenging readers to redirect their thinking. According to the authors, these changes in attitude will have an impact on the next generation: "As we abandon the old fear-based messages about money, we allow our daughters to do so as well." An innovative book; recommended for public libraries.?Lucy T. Heckman, St. John's Univ. Lib., Queens Village, NY
