Monster From Prison: The Border Patrol Serial Killer Nightmare

SERIAL KILLER NIGHTMARE FROM HELL

Four women never made it home. One barely escaped with her life. And the man who hunted them wore a badge.

In 2018, Juan David Ortiz, a supervisory Border Patrol agent, murdered four women along the Texas border and tried to kill a fifth. The case shocked the nation. What the public never knew was what happened next.

Years later, author Lyzza Janette set out to write a serious true-crime book about the case. She wanted answers. She wanted to understand why a man entrusted with protecting the vulnerable became the predator instead. What she received instead was something far darker: years of manipulation, threats, and a campaign of harassment that reached her family and friends through proxies.

This is not the book she originally intended to write. This is the book she had to write.

The Monster from Prison is a raw, unflinching account of what happens when a writer underestimates a serial killer still determined to control the narrative from behind bars. It is about the victims whose names must never be forgotten-Melissa Ramirez, Claudine Luera, Guiselda Hernandez, and Janelle Ortiz. It is about the lasting damage violent offenders continue to inflict long after the courtroom empties. And it is about one woman's decision to stop being silent, stop being controlled, and finally take her story back.

Some monsters do not stop when the cell door closes. Some stories demand to be rewritten.
