Folio (35.5 cm), 166 pp. Publisher's cloth, gilt-lettered spine (minor shelf wear). 45 entries, with 63 color illustrations on 51 plates and 125 illustrations in black and white. The catalogue includes manuscripts from the libraries of the monasteries of St. Catherine, Mount Sinai, Monte Cassino, Lorsch, and Nonantola, as well as from the collections of Claude, Queen of France; the Duke of Roxburghe; the Earl of Ashburnham; Baron James Rothschild; Sir Thomas Phillipps; Sir Arthur Chester Beatty; Sir Sidney Cockerell; C. W. Dyson Perrins; Dr. Martin Bodmer; and Dr. Peter and Irene Ludwig. In Kraus' words: "The present work is indeed my magnum opus, as everyone looking through its pages will agree. Furthermore, I believe that no comparable catalogue was ever issued in the past.".
