164, [1] pp., small folio (10 x 14"), blue cloth, gilt spine title, dustjacket. With 63 color illustrations on 53 mounted plates, plus 125 b&w illustrations, including one fold-out. The manuscripts, each illustrated and with detailed scholarly descriptions, are from the libraries of the monasteries of St Catherine at Mount Sinai, Monte Cassino, Lorsch, and Nonantola; and also from the collections of Claude, Queen of France, the Duke of Roxburghe, Earl of Ashburnham, Baron James Rothschild, Sir Thomas Phillips, Sir Arthur Chester Beatty, Sir Sidney Cockerell, C. W. Dyson Perrins, Martin Bodmer, and others. One of 700 copies printed at The Press of A. Colish. The book is in fine condition; the dustacket is just about fine.
