Describes the experiences of a wolf pack in the Toklat Pass of Alaska during the November moon
From School Library Journal:
Grade 3-6-- Initially published in the late '60s, this title offers an informative anthropomorphized glimpse into the habitat, mating, hunting, and other survival instincts of wolves. George's original text remains basically unchanged; however, the new edition offers an index, a bibliography (including two other related George titles), and a greatly improved presentation. The leading is plentiful, which helps to create a readable, inviting look. Catalano's impressive illustrations, executed in acrylics, tempera, and pastels, greatly enhance the story of the wolf pack's November hunt for caribou. This version is more suitable than the original for report information, and it should appeal those who may not be initially motivated to read about such subjects on their own. --J. J.
