Moon Rabbit Builds A Fine House

Author and illustrator Terry Avery has lived in the Rocky Mountain Southwest for 44 years. She and J. J. Corgi Dog now live in Santa Fe, NM. Once, not so long ago, she looked up at the full moon above the town and was amazed to see not the Man in the Moon but a Rabbit in the Moon... and not just a cute little bunny rabbit but a lanky jackrabbit with long, wind-swept ears.

One of the first Azro Press author/illustrators, Terry lived in the Rocky Mountain Southwest for 44 years. While she was staying at Chaco Canyon, she looked up at the full moon and was amazed to see not the Man in the Moon but a Rabbit in the Moon and not just a cute little bunny rabbit but a lanky jackrabbit with long, wind-swept ears who was the inspiration for her first book, Moon Rabbit Builds A Fine House. She completed a second book Who Will Save Mr Squeaky? and was working on a third Wendell, the Out of Work Coyote with an ASCAP Card when she died. She is missed by all of us.
