Walker s translation was previously published under the title Epicteti ENCHIRIDION in several earlier editions (e.g., 1692, 1695, 1697, 1702, 1716); and yet again under this title in 1764 a clear enough indication of the enduring popularity of the stoic philosophers in eighteenth-century England.
