Engraving; 7" x 9 1/4"; 1 pages; A wonderful hand-coloured engraving of a volunteer rifleman from Virginia during the War for Independence. Image measures 7" x 9 1/4" (14" x 11" matted). Matted in white stock with clear mylar. Engraved by John C. McRae based upon the painting by A. Chappel. Published by Selmar Hess. This engraving of soldier under Daniel Morgan's command, wearing buckskins and walking on forest path with rifle, nicely detailed depiction of the typical attire and weapons of these18th century American soldiers. General Daniel Morgan was commander of a rifle company during the Revolutionary War. The Riflemen played key role in Battle of Cowpens.
