Synopsis:

A 15-minute strengthening routine that can stand alone or be used in combination with any exercise program. Step-by-step instructions, colorful illustrations, along with an audio CD provide the reader with details of each position and movement. In the spirit of the ?Morning Cup? series, A Morning Cup of Strengthening is designed for standing and chair use, so it is ideal for senior citizens or the disabled, but is beneficial to anyone seeking to improve their wellbeing. In one easy routine, author and certified physical therapist Beth Pierpoint shows readers how to build muscle and bone as well as body tone through simple weight-resistance exercises, using either common household objects or lightweight dumbbells.

About the Author: Beth Pierpoint has spent her 20-year career in health and fitness. The past 10 years of her work as a physical therapist have been focused on helping people learn to live free of pain, with maximum functional ability. As an instructor, she has educated people nationwide about healthy lifestyles through fitness activities on land and water. She has worked with many charitable organizations, including the Arthritis Foundation and National Multiple Sclerosis Foundation, to help further the cause of fit living for Americans with disabilities. She received an Outstanding Research Award from her physical therapy peers for research in aquatics and has been involved in the development of new robotic technology that will revolutionize recovery for patients suffering from diseases such as stroke, multiple sclerosis, and spinal cord injury. She is currently a member of the Alabama Physical Therapy Association and the American Physical Therapy Association; she also serves on the Alabama Department of Public Health?s Task Force for Arthritis Education.
