About this Item
A mother walking with a basket on her arm, holding her child's hand. Etching on hand laid paper, sheet size 95 x 144 mm., platemark 83 x 129 mm., made by Pieter de Mare (1758-1796) after Christina Chalon (Amsterdam 1749-1808 Hazerswoude). Illustration for: Johannes Le Francq van Berkhey: 'Zinspelende gedigtjes, op de geestige printjes ge-etst door Pieter de Mare, na de teekeningen van mejuffrouw Christina Chalon, berustende in de verzameling van [.] H.A. Dibbets', Amsterdam: Willem van Vliet, 1793. The print (number 22) illustrates the poem on page 20. In excellent condition, a single faint spot in the lower right margin corner.
