Dave is a national expert on college substance misuse prevention and law enforcement. Dave is the Director of the newly formed Mid-America Prevention Technology Transfer Center and he is the owner of DJC Solutions LLC, a national training and consulting company. Training, speaking, and helping others is what he does best!
Dave brings a unique experience to substance misuse prevention, having served as a Campus Police Officer at Eastern Illinois University (EIU). While serving as their Crime Prevention Officer, EIU was identified in the top 10 nationwide for evidenced-based crime prevention programming by Margolis Healy LLC, on behalf of the US Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance. Through his crime prevention programming, Dave worked with over 7,500 students, faculty and professional staff on topics ranging from Motivational Interviewing, Bystander Intervention, Alcohol/Drug Prevention, Sexual Assault Prevention, and Conflict Resolution.
Additionally, Dave previously worked as a T/TA Specialist for SAMHSA's Center for the Application of Prevention Technologies (CAPT), There he provided targeted training and technical assistance (T/TA) on substance misuse prevention to States, Tribes, and Universities across the country.
Before joining the CAPT, Dave was the Assistant Director of the Illinois Higher Education Center for Alcohol, Other Drug, and Violence Prevention. He was responsible for assisting Illinois colleges and universities in reducing the negative alcohol, other drugs, and violence consequences impeding student academic success, personal growth, and development.
Dave is proud to have served in the Illinois Army National Guard for 6 years and was deployed during Operation Iraqi Freedom. He was award two Army Commendation Medals, one for valor and one for meritorious service, Combat Infantryman's Badge, Air Assault Badge, and many more.
