René Daumal (1908–1944) was a French poet, novelist, essayist, and translator whose work combined literary experimentation with philosophical and spiritual inquiry. A founder of the influential avant-garde movement and journal Le Grand Jeu, he drew inspiration from poetry, metaphysics, Eastern thought, and the teachings of G. I. Gurdjieff.
