Synopsis:

Dorothy Travis broke the glass ceiling to become the first woman to establish a Christian-centered private African American school exclusively for adolescent boys in urban Milwaukee. History was indeed made, not because Dr. Travis wanted her place in historical archives-but because she wanted the paradigm to shift in children lives. Many awards, certificates and pictures adorn her office, Dr. Travis is an accomplished woman who knows higher education is the gateway to changing the future of children who otherwise would not survive. Dr. Travis talks from an instructional, practical and spiritual perspective for anyone in education to glean from. This academician has been a Milwaukee fixture for many years. Highly respected a well-spoken Dr. Travis was challenged in her own youth by her mother to make a difference and by God's grace-she did.

- The National Urban Review, November 2016.

Dr. Travis Moore's dedication to the youth has stretched beyond her native country over to Jamaica. Her kindness knows no boundaries and she is willing to help in whatever way she can. She lives her favorite bible verse which is Philippians 4:13, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me". Dr. Moore is a knowledgeable person and always seeks to impart such knowledge to others. She is a natural leader and motivator. Enjoy reading her inspirational journey.

- Andria Cummings, Principal, Montego Bay, Jamaica 2015.

Mr. Speaker, I rise to honor Dr. Dorothy Travis Moore an educator, author, minister, foster parent, mother, wife, and visionary. In 1996, she founded Ceria M Travis Academy, where she is the CEO and President. The institution is named in honor of her mother was started utilizing her personal savings to fund her passion to serve both the community and children. She was formerly a National Educational Consultant with the National School Safety Center. Dr. Travis Moore is a veteran educator with over 35 years of experience and known nationally for her work with at risk students, both as a teacher and administrator. Mr. Speaker, this is why I pay tribute to Dr. Dorothy Travis Moore, a trailblazer. I am proud to call Dr. Dorothy Travis Moore a lifelong friend to me and my friend and proud that she works and educates children in the 4th Congressional District.

- Congresswoman Gwen Moore in the House of Representatives, December, 2011
