Very good condition red cloth boards with gold front cover lettering and gold spine lettering. Includes a rear section of advertisements of additional books by H.G. Wells "or on kindred subjects." Illustrated with a color illustrated frontispiece plate. The blank first free front endpaper contains two former owner stamps and the first few front and rear endpapers show scattered foxing. All pages are otherwise in fine condition and the binding is tight and square. Some light rubbing the spine edges and board tips and a few board edge indents (see photographs). "H.G. The book was published in 1916 while the ware was still inprogress, so no clear resolution was possible.
