Evidently the pagination of the publisher's catalog at end of the book (stated 22 pages) includes the 6 pages at the front of the book which has ads, title page, and two-page color plate. Only this first section 6-page section and some of the subsequent color plates show mild foxing, the remainder of the book is clean crisp unblemished but slightly and evenly age-toned (which is not the same as yellowing from the sun). Pagination does not include the two full page ads in the pastedowns. One binding split at page 186 with no loose or pulling pages (see photos). Rounded spine and minor separation gap, generally square presentation. Blanche marks on front board which is sunned as is the spine, back red cloth board retains original patina. Though there are many copies available of this book most are reprints and in a worse state than this rare 1898 edition which is more interesting for collectors.
