HB 'New Edition' - 1909. Dark green cloth boards. Gilt titles + circular vignettes front alslo black oval and ribbon decoration, but difficult to see! Gilt titles + circular illust spine. 20.7 x 13.5cm. 582 pages. Brown lettered period adverts on paste downs - Ross's Ginger Ale, ATora, Gourmet & Co. Palethorpes' sausages. Geraut & Co's. f/c frontis, b/w photos some f/c plates. From the look of my picture, you will think that the book has had it! Cover torn, heavily marked, scraped, discoloured. Cover needs regluing, main bulk of text ok but some loose pages. Lots of cook's finger marks + drips! Dedication rough period writing in ink dated Sept 20th 1910 + 1921 on o/p . Some tears to a few pages.however! Some cracking common sense cookery and recipes! e.g. Damson cheese. Champagne jelly. Herb pancakes. Pistachio cream. Rum omelet. Rusks.the list is endless. So a book that's been well used and looks it, but the info is clear, readable and an absolute joy.
