Printed card (2.25" by 3.75", verso blank) promoting a 1902 lecture by Julia Ward Howe (1819-1910) in Brookline, Massachusetts. Howe was a poet, women's suffrage leader, and audodidact who may be best known today for penning the "Battle Hymn of the Republic," published in the Atlantic Monthly in February 1862 (ANB). After her husband's death, Howe was able to become more active in the public sphere. She spoke on a range of subjects, and was elected President of the Association for the Advancement of Women as well as the New England Woman Suffrage Association. Very good. Minor toning. Pen and ink annotations to verso.
