About this Item

An early G&D reprint (circa 1923) of one of Burroughs' independent books. The book and DJ appear to be contemporaneous though they may not have always been together. The DJ illustration, frontispiece and 3 internal illustrations (all present) are by J Allen St John. The book is in very good shape except for a crease to the bottom corner of the rear board that runs down diagonally from 2" up and to 2" in at the bottom. The crease has bent and broken the rear past down. It has brown-red boards, some rubbing to the front gutter, and no top stain to the pages. PON & date (P. H. Inozer (sp?) Feb 7th 1925) on the FFEP. The DJ has edge wear with some small chips and narrow, vertical scrapes to the top & bottom of the rear panel and the bottom left of the front panel. The bottom 2.5" of the spine has been reinforced with brown paper and there are remnants of brown paper strips at the fore edges of the front and rear flaps. Still, the book presents fairly well. A good, but flawed, example of a hard to find copy w/DJ.
