Knowing in his gut that at forty-six this might well be his last chance to write the kind of fiction that might be worth publishing, small-town newspaper feature writer Sean O’Connor, late on a desperately agonizing evening, improbably invents Aidan McCann, an underperforming, self-centered excuse for a man who awakes on the morning of his forty-third birthday to find himself sinking in the sudden realization that he’s already wasted most of his life. Sean struggles to tell Aidan’s story, at the same time wrestling with whatever it is within himself that has kept his own success at arm’s length. God knows - Sean can write. But Sean himself has no idea why, over all these years, he hasn’t been able to write the kind of stories he’s always wanted to produce. This is the compelling and hard-to-put-down story of two very different men, each of whom has a woman who believes in him – two men who realize in midlife that they have far to go in fulfilling whatever potential they might have. Read this wonderfully impressive and moving debut novel that has readers craving more.

A New England native, and a descendant of Acadian immigrants to the United States, R.A Boudreau grew up in Lynn, Massachusetts ("Lynn, Lynn, city of sin, you never come out the way you went in..."). After working for several years as a reporter for the Lynn, Mass., Daily Item and the Worcester, Mass., Telegram, he spent most of his career in corporate communications and publications in both Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Now retired and finally able to turn his time and efforts to writing fiction, he considers himself a pretty good endorsement of the "better late than never" philosophy. He is currently working on his next novel -- and a collection of short stories -- both of which, he hopes, will be completed early in 2017. Stay tuned.
