Dr. PB. Srinivas, popularly known as PBS, is a multi-faceted genius, poet, musician and singer par excellence. He was a polyglot, a bibliophile, a melodious singer and an incisive writer rolled into on. His versatility is enviable. He was a humanist to the core and a practising Universalist like Rabindranath Tagore. He touched the lives of millions of his admirers across the regions. To many avid listeners of film music, PB. Srinivas singing invokes an image of a very decent and noble person. He was an embodiment of a cultured, refined and suave gentleman. His bass voice combines the sweetness of 'Basundi" (the sweet he was particularly fond of) and the gentle breeze of the river Godavari. Shri P.B. Srinivas was AjataShatru. He had no enemies. He was 4 polyglot who wrote thousands of poems in B languages. His Voice was soft and appealing to heart. Just as Sri Ghantasala voice contributed to the growth of the careers of N.T. Rama Rao and A. Nageswara Rao, Shri PBS voice contributed to Kannada Kanteerava Shri Rajkumar's career. Even today Kannadigas have a lot of veneration for Shri PBS. He, being a polyglot, not only sang film songs but also rendered a number of the traditional Stotras, Dandakam and Ashtakams in Sanskrit. It is a well known fact that Ghantasala was a pioneer in the renditions of the Stotras, Dandakams and Ashtakams. His Bani -style of rendition- was followed by many singers in the Southern India. Instead of following his senior Ghantasala 'Bani, he created his own 'Bani. If playback singing were his metier, Ghazal was his forte. PBS was a great admirer of Shahanshah-e-Ghazal. Mehdi Hassan and was inspired and influenced by Mehdi Hassan's extraordinary style of Ghazal rendition. This book in English titled OIL Srinivas Multi talented Singer is a research work on PBS as a singer and a writer. It contains an incisive analysis of PBS contribution to the film music in various languages like Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam.
