The cornerstone of pathogenesis of the disease can be traced to an overwhelmed oxidative and nitrosative stress reactions, insufficient detoxification, neurogenic inflammation, disruption of the blood-brain barrier (BBB) and hypoperfusion in the capsulothalamic region.
