First Edition. This is one of the few copies issued hardbound. Laid in is the scarce autograph of actress Zita Johann, who starred opposite Boris Karloff, written on an album leaf (on the verso of which is the autograph of actor Louis Hayward who starred in James Whale’s The Man In the Iron Mask). Oversized format. Johann has written a memoir of working on the film and the book contains a full facsimile of the original shooting script, with a history of Universal Pictures, extensive production background of the film, and many photographs.
