Murder at the Mine is a story that searches for answers and then is surprised by the ramifications of finding them. Brandon Elj is working at the largest taconite mine in Northern Minnesota when he finds out that his beloved uncle has been killed on property. An uncle that has helped raise him since the time Brandon’s father was killed in a mining accident.
After the police, led by chief Steele, have been thwarted by an overly political mine superintendent, Chuck Monson, Brandon takes it upon himself to find out who the killer is. This investigation leads him down a rabbit hole of conspiracy, coverup, and deception far deeper than he ever imagined. When Brandon discovers why his uncle was killed, because of a secret the mine holds, it puts in jeopardy not only Brandon’s life and investigation but threatens the entire town. With twists and false starts at every turn Brandon learns more about the mine than he ever intended to.
Despite the difficulties of investigating the murder Brandon finds love along the way for both himself and his widowed mother. In a twist of fate Brandon’s uncle’s old partner in the mine, Peter Meineke, turns out to be true love for his mother. However, fate is cruel and when Brandon eventually finds the killer in the sights of his rifle, it is Peter he must gun down.
Geared toward the mystery lover that wants to get involved in conspiracy, small town politics, and follow a young man that just won’t quit, Murder at the Mine is a deep dive into life on Minnesota’s Iron Range.
